Spotlight on Education - Safeguarding Children in Employment and Entertainment
As part of Sefton SCP's 'Spotlight on Education' practice fortnight...
When a child of compulsory school age is employed to work after school, at weekends or during the school holidays, the law states that they must be registered for work with their Local Authority, who will issue a work permit.
Similarly, if they are involved in entertainment (such as TV, film, theatre, modelling and paid sport), they may require a performance license and a licensed chaperone. This work permits and performance licenses are issued by Sefton's School Attendance Support Team, which you can learn more about in this briefing.
