Child Death Overview Panel (CDOP)

Merseyside CDOP

Child Death Overview Panels (CDOP) analyses child deaths, aged from new born up to eighteen years old and identifies any modifiable factors that could highlight areas for future improvement.

Merseyside Child Death Overview Panel (CDOP), formed in April 2011, involves all five Merseyside Safeguarding Partnerships, Knowsley, Liverpool, St. Helens, Sefton and Wirral.

The purpose of CDOP is to ensure a thorough comprehensive and multidisciplinary review of child deaths, to better understand how and why children in Merseyside die, and to use its findings to take action to prevent other deaths and improve the health and safety of our children.

Merseyside CDOP have produced a leaflet for parents/carers explaining what CDOP does when a child dies.

Further information on Merseyside CDOP, along with the published plan (2019) can be found on Liverpool Safeguarding Children Partnership's website link below.
